Christmas Message - President Malahide RFC
Christmas Message – President Malahide RFCFellow members,
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you,
and your families a very Merry Christmas,
and a Happy and safe New Year!
The Club will be open from 4pm tomorrow, Christmas Eve
until 8pm and we will be serving complimentary mince pies to get you all in the festive mood.
We will also be screening the Leinster V Ulster Mangers league game on Stephen’s Day,
so why not take a break from the house, pop up to the club,
and enjoy the match atmosphere in the comfort of your own clubhouse.
Club opening hours are here on the website.
The new year will see the fruition of a number of initiatives
which have been undertaken earlier this season.
Our capital investment in the shed and tractor for
grounds maintenance will start to kick in,
and will save the club a lot of money in the future.
The club website is being updated and revamped,
and should be ready to be launched by the end of January.
This will help to improve communication within the club.
We also hope to have Wi-Fi fully installed and available
throughout the club by the end of January 2010.
Thanks to the Trojan efforts of Kieran Foley (past president)
and Audrey Nolan our membership has been significantly increased,
and cards will be circulated in the new year to those who have not got one.
Many thanks to both Kieran and Audrey for all their hard work.
Senior rugby both men and women’s has seen a lot of success this year
in comparison to previous years and great credit has to go to all the players
coaches, and volunteers involved, and to our director of rugby Bruce Cook.
I wish to sincerely thank John Ward, our hardworking Youth Coordinator,
who stepped down recently, and all the youth coaches who give up their personal time
during the week and at weekends to ensure that we have a future for our club in the
coming years at Senior level.
John was instrumental in forging closer ties with Leinster Rugby,
and has worked tirelessly on behalf of this club and its members to ensure
we have youth teams at every age group within the club,
and representation at youth rugby level in Leinster.
Mini Rugby has been another major success within the club this year,
with registrations up and a full house every Sunday up in the club.
Many thanks to Aiden Ryan, our Mini Coordinator, and all of the coaches,
and volunteers who selflessly give up their time every Sunday morning
to make this such an enjoyable and sought after experience for all the children involved.
Finally, on behalf of myself and you, the members of our club,
I wish to thank all our staff and committee members for all the
hard work and effort they have put into the club this year.
May you all have a safe and happy Christmas and a prosperous new year.
Sincerely yours in rugby
John Melvin
